Faceted Steel Ball Earrings - 19th Century
A beautiful pair of antique faceted steel earrings, consisting of two small hinged elements and a large drop-shaped ball.
Each element is entirely covered with small, cut and polished steel facets, arranged to capture and reflect light. Highly prized in the 19th century, this meticulous craftsmanship created a sparkling effect reminiscent of gemstones.

The clasps were likely later modified to feature an 18-karat gold swan-neck clasp.
For the sake of accuracy, please note the very slight absence of a small facet on the back of one of the spheres (see photograph), which does not affect the appearance of the piece when worn.
