Rare Polychrome Tyrolean Devotional Cabinet Dated 1750 – St. Notburga And St. Isidore

A rare and charming polychrome-painted wooden devotional cabinet—suitable for tabletop or wall mounting—originating from the Alpine region (Tyrol/Bavaria) and precisely dated 1750. The front cornice bears the painted date "1750" alongside the patron's initials "BK," and is surmounted by a shaped crest decorated with a fruit basket and foliate motifs. The two doors feature four painted octagonal panels: the upper left depicts Saint Notburga with the inscription "Heilige Nothburga bitt für uns" (Saint Notburga, pray for us); the upper right depicts Saint Isidore the Farmer with the inscription "Heiliger Isidor bitt für uns" (Saint Isidore, pray for us); and the lower panels display two elegant vases of flowers set against a light background. The sides and edges are embellished with floral decorations featuring red rose garlands on a blue-grey ground. The back retains its original, rare woodblock-printed paper lining, featuring geometric and floral patterns. An authentic piece of Alpine folk art (*Volkskunst*) from the mid-18th century, in excellent original condition with a beautiful period patina.
