Large Cobalt-blue And Gilded Bronze Porcelain Vase – Napoleon III Period
An elegant and imposing 19th-century French decorative vase, crafted from deep cobalt-blue porcelain and richly adorned with an elaborate gilded bronze mount.
The ovoid body is accented by a delicate garland of flowers in gilded bronze, composed of roses and finely modeled small flowers. On either side, spectacular openwork handles featuring volutes, foliage, and fantastical motifs harmoniously frame the porcelain.
The neck is encircled by a rich, leaf-patterned border in gilded bronze, while the lower section rests within a frame decorated with acanthus leaves. The entire piece is supported by a finely crafted pedestal, resting on an elegant, architecturally designed base.
The contrast between the deep, luminous cobalt blue of the porcelain and the richness of the gilded bronze gives this piece a particularly decorative presence.
A fine example of French decorative arts from the Napoleon III era, drawing inspiration from the 18th-century ornamental repertoire and, in particular, the Louis XVI style.
France, second half of the 19th century.
