Carved-wood Trumeau Mirror With Glazing Beads, Consulate And Empire Styles, 18th–19th Centuries

A trumeau mirror in gilded carved wood, featuring an architectural design of Corinthian capitals surmounting small columns or pilasters on the side panels, through which the mirror’s glazing beads are visible; frame elegantly decorated with arabesques and leafy volutes, original mercury glass, dating from the Consulate–First Empire period, late 18th–early 19th centuries.

This trumeau is in good overall condition, in its original state. It has been slightly damaged by the passage of time, though this in no way detracts from its decorative appeal, thanks to its architectural composition enhanced by the delicacy of the plant motifs. The gilded patina is worn.
