Pair Of High-backed Armchairs Made Of Turned Wood – Armrests Carved With Animal Heads
A beautiful pair of large ceremonial armchairs in natural wood, featuring a highly decorative design inspired by furniture from the High Period / Louis XIII style.
The armchairs rest on turned legs and posts, joined at the front by a particularly decorative twisted crossbar.
The armrests, also twisted, are topped with remarkable carved animal heads, lending the pieces a great deal of character.
The tall rectangular backs and wide seats are upholstered in a cashmere-patterned fabric in shades of blue-green, accented in the center by a vertical band featuring a polychrome floral design in red, orange, and green.
The upholstery is accented by a row of decorative brass nails.
