Large Japanese Satsuma Porcelain Bowl
Large Japanese Satsuma porcelain bowl with rich polychrome decoration and gold highlights.
The interior is decorated with a figurative scene depicting haloed figures, probably sages or Buddhist religious figures, treated with great finesse of drawing.
The background is entirely covered with highly detailed geometric and floral motifs, typical of the meticulous workmanship of the Satsuma workshops.
The wing features a beautiful scalloped border highlighted by a deep blue background enhanced by gilded floral motifs.
The whole offers a harmonious palette blending gold, red, green and blue, with a beautiful visual presence.
The reverse is decorated with a golden floral semis on a blue background and bears an underglaze mark.
A decorative piece of fine quality, characteristic of Japanese production destined for export at the end of the 19th century.
