Small carved panel, 19 x 15 cm, depicting ODIN and THOR from the 16th century; a rare carved wooden panel in bas-relief depicting ODIN and THOR, a major god of Norse mythology and the father of THOR. The figure, depicted in profile, has a beautiful expression and a full head of hair. The panel dates from the 16th century and features a beautiful antique patina. It is set in an 18th-century carved and gilded wooden frame; an inscription and figure, the text of which is indecipherable, are engraved on the frame. The entire piece must have been gilded in the 18th century.
