Bronze Corpus Christi, 16th Century
An elegant bronze figure of Christ, depicted crucified with his arms wide open and his head bowed.
The sculpture displays fine modeling, particularly in the rendering of the face, hair, beard, the anatomy of the torso, and the perizonium. The dark patina shows traces of ancient oxidation in places, particularly visible on the reverse side.
The figure was originally intended to be mounted on a cross, likely as part of a private devotional practice or a small domestic altar.
A beautifully crafted antique piece, stylistically attributable to the Renaissance, likely the 16th century, subject to further expert evaluation.
