Elegant Louis XV-style flat desk in violetwood veneer, dating from the late 19th century. Its flowing lines are accentuated by rich trim of chiseled and gilded bronze featuring floral, foliage, and scroll motifs.

It features three drawers running around the middle and rests on four curved legs, adorned with bronze finials featuring floral and foliage motifs, extended by trim that follows their curve down to the feet. The sinuous frames of the bronze work highlight the interplay of the violet wood’s grain.

The scalloped top is encircled by a gilded bronze band and covered with black leather featuring rich gilded decoration. A wide border alternating between shells, foliage, and small flowers follows its contours. A second, more delicate frame is punctuated by arabesques at the corners. At the center is a symmetrical composition of volutes and gilded floral motifs, complemented by discreet cold-stamped ornaments.

This desk has undergone a complete restoration, including the refinishing of the buffed varnish, which reveals the wood’s subtle hues and depth. The bronze elements have been carefully cleaned without re-gilding, thus preserving their original gilding and patina.

The piece is in perfect condition, with black leather upholstery also in perfect condition.
