Asian Screen, Coromandel Lacquer, 6 Panels, Red Lacquer, 19th Century, Headboard

An antique Asian six-panel folding screen made of Coromandel lacquer, fully decorated on both sides.
One side features a red background adorned with a polychrome design of lotus flowers, foliage, birds, and ducks in a stylized aquatic landscape, the whole outlined with fine gold lines.
The other panel, set against a dark brown background, depicts a more complex Far Eastern landscape featuring mountains, trees, pavilions, waterways, boats, and small figures, framed by plant friezes and complemented by depictions of vases, incense burners, flowers, and scholar’s objects.
The designs blend shades of cream, gold, green, blue, and red, characteristic of this type of decorative production. The six panels are connected by metal hinges and can be folded completely flat.
The set exhibits an antique patina with craquelure, wear, small missing areas, and visible signs of use, consistent with its age.
Each panel measures 105.5 cm high by 25 cm wide.
The screen consists of six panels, resulting in a theoretical total width of approximately 150 cm when fully unfolded.
