A significant terracotta sculpture created by the sculptor Gustave Trouillard, who was very active in the mid-19th century.
Our sculpture depicts a young boy and a girl playing; it is titled “Children by the Sea.” This inscription is engraved on the base of the statue, along with the artist’s signature.
Please note a small repair on the boy’s wrist, as well as a missing finger (see photos), and likely a small repair on the crustacean with a slight chip on its antennae.
