Pair Of High-backed Louis XIII–louis XIV Chairs With Inventory Mark, 17th And 19th Centuries

A lovely pair of chairs with high, flat backs, each resting on four legs connected by an H-shaped brace and a high front crossbar, all turned in a baluster style.
The first chair dates from the late 17th to early 18th century and features some earlier restorations: the right rear leg has been extended by approximately three centimeters, and the lower crossbar of the backrest has been partially replaced (see photos). This chair comes from a castle inventory and bears the mark “B. A.” branded with a hot iron on the front of the left front leg (see photos).
The second chair is a replica of the first, likely made in the late 19th or very early 20th century.
Both chairs have very good upholstery; they are firm and comfortable. However, please note that the upholstery fabric is slightly faded and shows signs of wear on the front of the seats (see photos).
