Empire-style Secretary Desk

A mahogany secretary desk with detached columns from the Empire period, dating from the 19th century. The front is made of Cuban flamed mahogany veneer featuring a butterfly-wing motif, making it a rare piece.
This piece is in very good condition, particularly the drop-down panel and the sides, which show no cracks. This is a problem often encountered with Empire-style pieces.
It has a classic interior but features several small drawers as well as two secret compartments to the left and right of the columns.
Another distinctive feature of this piece is the drawer located beneath the marble top; it can only be opened when the drop-down lid is open.
When the drop-down lid is locked, this drawer cannot be opened.
It comes with two keys; the locks are functional and original.
