White marble pendulum clock with a portico, adorned with black marble lozenges and a beautiful decoration of gilded bronze motifs, such as a mask of Mercury,sea horses, stars, and a beautiful drapery beneath the dial; complete with its sun-shaped pendulum
The front pilasters are adorned with "asparagus" motifs, and it rests on four spindle-shaped feet
The movement is complete,and strikes the hours and half-hours
It is in working order, but the pendulum (on a string) must be reattached using its key
The dial is signed “Prouvarelle” in Paris
A piece from the Directoire /Consulate, late 18th century or c. 1800
Jacques Philippe Prouvarelle was established on Rue du Marché aux Poirées in Paris from around 1791 until 1820,he is renowned for his portico clocks with beautiful enameled dials
