"venus Of Uzhgorod", Marble Sculpture By Bogdan Korzh (ukrainian, 1952, Lives In Uzhgorod)
A symbolic white marble sculpture of a woman's torso was created in 1995 by the renowned Ukrainian sculptor Bohdan Vasilievich Korzh (1952, Jablonec, Czech Republic—lived and worked in Uzhhorod / Transcarpathia).
He graduated from the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (1978).
His instructors in his field of study were D. Krvavich and I. Yakunin.
Sculptor. His work is characterized by the revelation of human character and a successful sculptural approach. He created sculptural portraits, memorial plaques, monuments, medals, small-scale sculptures, garden and park sculptures, and monumental sculptures.
He worked as a teacher at the Uzhhorod School of Applied and Decorative Arts (since 1978); executive secretary (1985–1991); deputy chairman of the Transcarpathian branch of the Union of Artists of Ukraine (1992–1996); and simultaneously as a sculptor for the Transcarpathian Art Foundation (1985–2004).
He participated in regional and national exhibitions (since 1976). Solo exhibitions were held in Uzhhorod (1992–1993, 1997, 2002, 2007), Kyiv (1996, 2005, 2007, 2009), Humenne, Medjilabortsy (1996), Presov (2001, 2006), and Budapest (2002, 2006).
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1985). Recipient of the I. Bokshay Regional Prize – A. Erdeli (1997, 2008).
Inscription: monogrammed lower in the middle; the artist’s handwritten original label in Ukrainian on the back of the base.Technique: white marble .
