"Hans Zatzka (austrian 1859-1945) Under The Spell Of Love"
A finely crafted genre scene depicting a loving couple and Cupid was created in the late 19th century by the renowned Austrian artist Hans Zatzka (1859–Vienna–1945). His paintings command exceptional prices on the international auction market (up to €100,000). Hans Zatzka studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts from 1877 to 1882 under Christian Griepenkerl and Carl von Blaas. During his studies at the Academy, he received the Füger Gold Medal. A decorative painter, he favored subjects from Wagner's operas and mythological scenes. Zatzka was very popular for his paintings of beautiful girls, allegorical scenes with nymphs and putti, and oriental genre paintings.
