This elegant pair of mahogany and mahogany-veneer chairs displays excellent craftsmanship and a particularly sturdy construction. Their design follows in the tradition of Empire furniture, with a simplicity that already foreshadows certain pieces from the Restoration period.
The backrest, slightly rounded at the top, is treated with great architectural elegance: its wide openwork frame is enlivened at the center by a carved element in the shape of a lyre or a flared baluster, which adds depth to the backrest while maintaining the lightness sought after in early 19th-century French furniture.
