Rare shotgun with a tilting grip, 12mm 410/50 centerfire caliber, Saint-Étienne, late 19th century SCN26OBJ012

Collector’s firearm classified as Category D (available for sale to adults 18 years of age or older; valid ID required in accordance with current regulations). No permit required

Beautiful and rare shotgun manufactured in Saint-Étienne (late 19th century), 12 mm centerfire caliber, designed for small hunting or bullet cartridges (410/50)
For black powder cartridges only....

  • Smoothbore steel barrel (bamboo-wrapped), length 78 cm.
  • Total length 86 cm.
  • Grip length 12 cm.
  • Tilting system (tilting grip) with extractor.
  • Tilting system release button (located inside the grip).
  • External hammer (concealed in rest/safety position).
  • Folding trigger tail concealed (automatically springs out upon closing).

Operation

Set the hammer to the first safety notch → press the release button → tilt the handle to load the cartridge → close (the trigger spring returns) → cock the hammer → fire.
Upon reopening, the half-moon extractor ejects the cartridge case.
Safety can be maintained by leaving a cartridge chambered with the hammer in the rest position.

Complete and functional mechanism (to be checked; lubricate thoroughly based on your inspection).
Original appearance with patina from use.
Pistol-style grip (probably ebony).

Rare break-action shotgun with a tilting grip and external hammer, produced in Saint-Étienne in the late 19th century (circa 1880–1900).
No manufacturer’s markings are visible on known similar examples; handcrafted in Saint-Étienne or by a small local manufacturer.

This RARE design differs from more common walking guns (such as the Dumonthier breech-loading type, the Étoile/Manufrance internal-firing type, etc.).

Ideal for collectors of unusual firearms, 19th-century system canes, and discreet self-defense/hunting weapons.
