Large Napoleon III-style Tray Made Of Lacquered Sheet Metal With Chinese Motifs, Mounted As A Coffee Table By Madeleine Castaing
Very large serving tray made of lacquered sheet metal, decorated with gold chinoiserie motifs on a black background. A French piece from the Napoleon III period, mid-19th century (circa 1850–1860), which has been converted into a coffee table mounted on a folding brass base from the early 20th century.
A beautiful accessory typical of the great interior designers of the 1950s and 1960s, such as Madeleine Castaing, which breathes new life into these very large trays and gives them a practical use, transforming them into a coffee table suited to modern living while preserving an antique piece. It is very elegant and practical, and easy to move. The height is adjustable between 40 cm and 45 cm.
In very good overall condition; the tabletop shows no corrosion, just some minor wear to the lacquer. The base is in good condition.
