Naga Necklace, Late 19th–early 20th Century

Stunning and rare three-headed Naga necklace made of brass
6 glass olives; the rest are orange—I don’t know what the material is (ceramic, glass, coral?)
Total length: 43 cm
Beautiful antique patina
The Naga people live in Southeast Asia, in northeastern India, Nagaland
Three bronze heads
Only warriors who had captured heads were allowed to wear this type of necklace
A grand ritual commemorated this tradition
Cutting off heads was believed to promote crop fertility, support livestock farming, curb disease, etc.
