Pair Of Candlesticks—bronze—putti—france—19th Century
Pair of gilded bronze candlesticks, Louis XV style, 19th century
A beautiful pair of gilded bronze candlesticks, richly chased, decorated with three putti in the round forming the shaft.
The figures are surrounded by an elaborate decoration of foliage, scrollwork, and rocaille motifs. The top features a richly ornamented finial, while the entire piece rests on a wide circular base abundantly decorated with foliage and rocaille motifs, accented by beaded friezes.
The composition, highly decorative and dynamic, is part of the 18th-century French Rocaille repertoire, whose stylistic elements were widely adopted in the 19th century.
A truly beautiful decorative piece, featuring rich chiseling and gilding with warm tones.
