Curved Louis XV-style Display Cabinet, Featuring Floral Marquetry And Gilded Bronze, With Heraldic Decoration

An elegant Louis XV-style display cabinet from the late 19th century, curved on all sides and richly decorated with marquetry and gilded bronze, in the grand tradition of Parisian cabinetmaking from the second half of the century.

With its dynamic form, the body rests on four arched legs finished with bronze caps and features a curved silhouette, both on the front and sides, enlivened by a characteristic curved projection. The upper section is glazed and closes with a large, curved glass door, revealing an interior lined with red velvet, ideal for displaying porcelain or collectibles. It is crowned by a scalloped pediment accented by a beautiful cascade of gilded bronze with rocaille decoration, openworked with acanthus leaves and volutes.

The marquetry is one of the piece’s major attractions. The sides are adorned with large medallions of flowers and finely drawn foliage scrolls, while the lower part of the front features a more ambitious design: a heraldic cartouche surmounted by a crown, framed by floral scrolls and flanked by two facing dolphins, in the style of 18th-century chest-of-drawers marquetry. This coat of arms lends the piece a distinguished character and evokes an aristocratic provenance.
