A spectacular, large-scale decorative ensemble consisting of a substantial 19th-century carved marble pedestal, topped by a monumental sculpture depicting Bacchus drinking, created around 1920.

The sculpture, standing 165 cm tall, is crafted from patinated copper and copper-based metal, using a technique that combines various worked and assembled elements. It features a beautiful antique patina, punctuated in places by natural oxidation and verdigris, which attest to its age and exposure.
Bacchus, the god of wine and intoxication in ancient mythology, is depicted in a particularly expressive and theatrical pose, seated on a barrel and holding a bottle to his mouth. At his feet unfolds a lavish Bacchic decoration composed of grape clusters, vine leaves, and elements evoking the grape harvest and wine.
The deliberately dynamic treatment of the material, the irregular surfaces, and the vigor of the modeling give this sculpture a particularly strong and expressive presence, characteristic of the great decorative sculptures of the early 20th century.
The sculpture rests on a large, 150 cm-tall, 19th-century cylindrical pedestal carved from marble. The pedestal is divided into distinct molded sections and features a rich bas-relief decoration comprising figurative scenes, trophies, coats of arms, and sculpted ornaments.
The combination of these two elements forms a monumental ensemble reaching a total height of approximately 315 cm, particularly spectacular in its proportions and iconography.
