Savoyard Fir Wood Dresser - Late 19th Century
An elegant and authentic Alpine sideboard in solid fir, composed of two superimposed sections, characteristic of Savoyard rural production from the second half of the 19th century. The upper section, with its wide open front, features four fixed shelves for displaying earthenware and household utensils. It is framed by straight uprights and topped with a molded cornice with a slight overhang. Beneath the middle shelf runs a finely scalloped openwork decoration, cut with a saw, typical of workshops in the Arve and Tarentaise valleys. In original condition, with signs of wear consistent with age.
