18th-century Emilian Mantelpiece

An important 18th-century Emilian trumeau, entirely veneered in fine walnut-banded woods, from the Emilia-Romagna region. The piece features a refined two-part structure: the lower section consists of a drop-down panel concealing a writing compartment and small interior drawers, topped by a series of small utility drawers, while the upper section consists of a two-door cabinet with rich inlay decoration and shaped panels.

The cornice is embellished with an elegant, undulating pediment featuring carvings and foliage motifs, typical of 18th-century Emilian craftsmanship. The walnut veneer, carefully selected and arranged in mirror-image patterns with decorative fillets, lends great dynamism to the surface of the piece.

Inside, the drop-down panel reveals a well-organized writing desk with small drawers and document compartments, designed for correspondence and household management. The lower section features spacious drawers with period hardware.

A piece of great elegance and artisanal quality, representative of the 18th-century cabinetmaking tradition of northern Italy.
