THIS VERY DETAILED MAP BY DE FER SHOWS THE COURSE OF THE NILE FROM ABYSSINIA TO THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA THROUGH EGYPT. 
THERE IS A LARGE INSERTED MAP ALONG THE LEFT SIDE SHOWING DETAILS OF THE NILE IN EGYPT STARTING FROM ASWAN IN THE SOUTH.
THE MAP SHOWS THE MAIN CARAVAN ROUTE FROM LOWER EGYPT WEST OF THE NILE, EXTENDING THROUGH ABYSSINIA.
ANOTHER ROUTE IS SHOWN IN ARABIA, CONNECTING MECCA, MEDINA, AND OTHER MAJOR CITIES

THE MAP SHOWS THE NILE STRETCHING FROM LAKE TANA IN THE ABYSSINIAN HIGHLANDS, IMMEDIATELY TO THEeast of Lake Tana lies a small stream with the caption "Springs called
The Eyes of the Nile" (the spring is called The Eyes of the Nile), A REFERENCE TO LOBO’S DESCRIPTION OF
TWO SPRINGS AS THE EXACT SOURCE OF THE NILE .

IN RARE CONDITION FOR ITS AGE, ON STURDY PAPER, DRAWN BY NICOLAS DE FER IN 1646  – 1720, WHICH WOULD BE ONE OF HIS LAST MAPS. RARE IN THIS CONDITION.
