Pieter Hendrik Koekkoek, 1843–1927, Dutch landscape painter. Born into a famous family of painters, he was the son of landscape painter Marinus Adrianus Koekkoek, under whom he studied beginning in 1855. In his early years, during the 1860s and 1870s, he painted in the same romantic style as his father, primarily landscapes and forest scenes. Later, his style became more realistic. A great lover of nature, he never ceased to pay homage to it in his paintings. He often traveled between the Netherlands and England. He spent long periods in London, where his cousin Hermanus Koekkoek de Jonge ran an art gallery. Much of his work was sold on the English art market. He died in London in 1927. Works are held in museums in Amsterdam, The Hague, and London. The artist is listed in the Bénézit. Listed on Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc...
