18th-century "à La Reine" Armchair

A beautiful armchair known as the “Queen’s Chair”—so named for its flat backrest—made of walnut from the mid-18th century, during the reign of Louis XV.
The curved front and rear legs end in doe’s-hoof feet, and the front and side rails are carved with clasp motifs and acanthus leaves; a lovely shell adorns the center of the seat rail.
This same motif of a shell and acanthus leaves is found on the upper crossbar of the backrest.
The armrests are richly carved with leaves and curve outward as if to better welcome the sitter.
The woodwork on this chair is in good condition, and the upholstery was reupholstered 2 or 3 years ago. Only the fabric needs to be replaced to better complement your decor.
A beautiful chair with a low seat for greater comfort; elegant—in short, a lovely, sophisticated, and inviting piece.
