born in Paris on January 22, 1690
died in the same city on September 14, 1743.
French School.
Lancret enjoyed a great reputation during his lifetime. He painted a large number of genre paintings—village weddings, balls, and fairs—as well as many drawings, a few portraits of his contemporaries, and historical compositions.
