Damage to the marble.Probable provenance: General Oudinot, Duke of Reggio.A label mentions the presence of an inscription: “Mr. the Duke of Reggio, 44 Rue de Bourgogne,” found beneath the marble during restoration.Nicolas Charles Marie Oudinot, Duke of Reggio, born on April 25, 1767, in Bar-le-Duc and died on September 13, 1847, in Paris, was a French general during the Revolution and the Empire, elevated to the rank of Marshal of the Empire in 1809.
