Orientalist Bronze Sculpture - The Rebels Of Cairo - 1820 - After Girodet
A patinated bronze sculpture on a marble base depicting the rebels of Cairo, based on the painting by Anne-Louis Girodet (1767–1824) exhibited in 1810. Unsigned French school, circa 1820. See also the bronze clock at the Girodet Museum in Montargis: “clock depicting the Cairo Revolt.”

Condition report : in good overall condition with some scattered wear to the patina and minor soiling. A piece is missing from the bottom of an insurgent’s vest, and the warrior’s blade (which was screwed to the hilt) is missing. A screw is also missing beneath the warrior’s bust, causing the cape to have a slight wobble.
