19th Century French Petite Black Painted Footstool With Squirrel Tapestry

A charming petite French footstool dating from the 19th century, featuring a beautifully decorative tapestry upholstered seat and a black-painted wooden base.

The tapestry depicts a delightful woodland scene centred around a squirrel amongst foliage, flowers and branches, set against a rich deep red background. The detailed design and warm palette give this small piece wonderful character and make it particularly appealing as a decorative accent.
