Each of neoclassical amphora form, raised on a molded circular foot and surmounted by a flared neck with a scalloped, gilt-highlighted rim. The large, fully-gilded opposing side handles are richly modeled with dimensional leafy scrolls and tendril motifs in the Eclectic taste.The central body features hand-painted decorations within oval reserves: one vase depicts the Triumph of Cupid, while the second vase illustrates a Scene of Courtship or Poetic Coronation, both bearing the signature A. Kauffmann. To the reverse, a large central panel on a midnight-blue ground is entirely decorated with a dense pattern of arabesques.Each bears a sepiaprinted circular stamp underneath the base reading "Royal Vienna Patent 22983". Similar marks associated with this patent number were used by renowned artistic porcelain and pottery factories in Austria, Germany, and select British manufactories (such as A.G. Harley Jones, Royal Vienna Art Pottery in Fenton, Staffordshire).
