Mathurin Méheut (1882–1958)—henriot Quimper
Artist: Mathurin Méheut
A rare set of six dessert plates with a marine motif.
Plates with a polychrome enamel design on a cream-white background, adorned in the center with stylized seashells and marine animals.
Painted in a palette of blue and yellow, enlivened by small stars, bubbles, and decorative elements evoking the marine environment, broad wavy lines suggest the movement of water.
On the reverse, a handwritten mark reading “HENRIOT QUIMPER” accompanied by Mathurin MÉHEUT’s “MM” monogram.
Diameter: 21 cm
The set presents a beautiful overall appearance. However, two plates have an old chip on the rim visible on the reverse side, and another has a trace of firing irregularity.
