Rare Herend Porcelain Tea Set: Teapot, Sugar Bowl, Milk Pitcher, 6 Cups, And 6 Saucers

A Rare "Herend Fruits" Tea Set — Acquired in London in 1965
This charming and exceptionally well-preserved Herend tea set boasts a particularly interesting provenance. Acquired in London in 1965, it was purchased partly from Fortnum & Mason and partly from Thomas Goode—two of London’s most prestigious purveyors of luxury goods and fine tableware.
The set was subsequently bequeathed to me by a close friend in 1980 and has remained in my possession ever since.
Remarkably, it appears never to have been used since its acquisition. It has thus come down to the present day in exceptional condition, retaining all the charm and refinement of a 19th-century Herend set.

A Herend teapot with a rose-shaped finial
A lidded sugar bowl, also with a rose-shaped finial
A milk jug
Six cups
Six matching saucers

The cups and saucers feature the delightful "Frutta" pattern, showcasing a lovely array of hand-painted fruits and foliage in a variety of vibrant colors. The design is enhanced by elegant gilding, lending the set the refined and unmistakable look of early Herend porcelain.
Each piece is entirely hand-painted, making every element subtly unique. The combination of colorful fruit motifs, delicate painting, and gold detailing makes this tea set a highly decorative and sought-after piece.
Its condition is exceptional for its age. It shows no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs, and the porcelain remains remarkably pristine.
