An elegant pair of French bronze andirons, signed BOUHON Frères, a Parisian firm renowned for its decorative bronzes and fireplace accessories in the 19th century.
Each andiron is topped by a child seated on a cushion with tassels: one is depicted with a bow, arrows, and a quiver, evoking Cupid, while the other is accompanied by winged attributes that may evoke Mercury as a child.
The rectangular bases are richly decorated with scrollwork, flowers, foliage, and openwork ornaments in the neoclassical style. The set rests on fluted legs and features a beautiful antique patina, with signs of wear, oxidation, and scuffing consistent with its age.
