Empire-style Porcelain Egg Cup, Paris, With Gilded Caryatid And Sphinx Busts, 19th Century
Egg cup on a pedestal made of white Paris porcelain accented with gold fillets, flared bowl adorned with a coat of arms featuring intertwined initials, shaft composed of three caryatid busts (ancient women or sphinxes) on a round base, dating from the First Empire period, circa 1800 to the early 19th century.
This egg cup is in good condition and of remarkable quality. The caryatid base is entirely in keeping with the Empire style of the very early 19th century, drawing inspiration from ancient art and, above all, the “Return from Egypt” style. A magnificent little object with very refined decoration.
Please note: slight signs of age on the decorations and busts; please examine the photos carefully.
