A student of the Ecole des Arts Appliqués de Paris, Marcel Guillot worked in various workshops in the Paris region, at the Sèvres factory. He decided to become independent and create his own workshop in Paris with a gas kiln while collaborating with the porcelain maker Jacques Lobjoy. Then he moved to Varenne-Saint-Hilaire and worked with electric kilns, and finally to Saint Maur des Fossés. His workshop of 30 people produces pieces that are sold via the AA fair and in department stores. Various ceramists come through his workshop, such as Fernand Lacaf or Michel Lanos. Marcel Guillot creates utilitarian ceramics, but also a bestiary in stoneware. The decoration is painted or engraved on stoneware or porcelain shapes with often matte enamels.
