Hst Portrait Of A Distinguished Man In A Frock Coat, "charlemagne," By Oscar Guët, 1825
Oil on canvas depicting the portrait of a man, most likely a distinguished figure, wearing a frock coat, signed “Guët* Pinxit” and dated 1825, in a gilded frame from the 19th century.
This painting is in good condition. Signed lower left and annotated on the stretcher.

* Charlemagne-Oscar Guët (1801–1871)was a French painter. He studied under Antoine-Jean Gros, Louis Hersent, and later Horace Vernet, making his debut at the 1819 Salon. He was named a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1846. He died at his home onPlace Vendôme in Paris on November 29, 1871. He is buried in Paris at the Montparnasse Cemetery.
