"Maximilian I Habsburg, Archduke Of Austria"
Equestrian portrait of a Habsburg Archduke, probably Maximilian I (1459-1519). Our rider, in ceremonial dress, mounted on a white horse, wears the crown of the Archduke of Austria and carries in his right hand a red standard with the standing lion, symbol of the Habsburgs, in the center. In the background stands Habsburg Castle, the cradle of this European dynasty that ruled over a large part of Central Europe until 1918!
