Madé Gourdon, Interior Scene “rustic Harmony,” Saint Jean Ligoure (department 87), Brass Instruments

A charming painting depicting a rustic interior featuring a collection of copperware, as well as various brass candlesticks and oil lamps, all arranged on a table and shelves. At the center of the painting, a splendid bouquet of wildflowers adds color and charm to the scene. It is titled “Rustic Harmony” and bears an inscription on the back (see photo). This oil on canvas was painted by Madé Gourdon in Saint-Jean-de-Ligourre in the Haute-Vienne department. This artist was well-known and highly regarded in Limoges during the 1950s and 1960s for her still lifes; some of her paintings are housed at the Limoges Museum of Fine Arts.
Our painting bears the artist’s signature in the lower right corner and is sold unframed.
