Embroidered Silk Panel, 18th Century
- Embroidered silk panel, 18th-century work.
- The embroidered design resembles a grotesque composition, featuring skillfully arranged motifs designed to spark the imagination of the viewer. Thus, within a frame featuring architectural lines and strict axial symmetry, a collection of zoomorphic ornaments—animals (butterflies, exotic birds), and human figures (profile masks, a tightrope walker) move harmoniously together, creating a feast for the eyes. In the center stands a female figure accompanied by a child.
- The embroidery stitches employ various techniques, lending this panel a sense of great refinement. The colors of the silk threads in the embroidered motifs (blue, orange) enliven the composition with fresh and delicate splashes of color.
- This panel consists of three panels sewn together and is fully lined.
- Some signs of wear are present (see photos).
- Dimensions - Height: 238 cm, width: 161.5 cm
