Empire-style Chest Of Drawers, Made Of Mahogany, 19th Century
Empire-style mahogany chest of drawers, 19th century
Beautiful Empire-style chest of drawers, dating from the first half of the 19th century, made of mahogany and mahogany veneer.
With a straight and elegant silhouette, it features three large drawers at the front. These are adorned with remarkable bronze handles decorated with lion’s paws holding rings, a motif particularly characteristic of the Empire decorative style. The shield-shaped lock plates harmoniously complement the design.
The chest rests at the front on beautiful, sculpted lion’s paw feet—powerful and well-defined—while the rear feet are straight.
It is topped by a thick, slightly overhanging black marble top, which lends the piece a commanding presence.
Photographs of the drawers also allow one to appreciate the traditional dovetail construction and the high quality of the cabinetmaking.
A decorative and authentic Empire-style chest of drawers, featuring a beautiful, warm mahogany color and balanced proportions.
