Important Religious Painting Embroidered On Silk—sacred Heart, Lamb Of God—19th Century

A very beautiful and rare piece of religious embroidery on silk, likely dating from the second half of the 19th century, depicting an allegorical composition centered on the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Lamb of God.At the center of the composition, the Flaming Heart of Christ rests on a small, richly ornamented altar. Above it, the Lamb of God, lying on the cross and bearing the banner of the Resurrection, appears in radiant glory. A copious stream of blood flows from his body, punctuated by small crosses, symbolically flowing toward the Sacred Heart. The altar bears the monogram IHS, while the composition is embellished with flowers, lilies, roses, and a carefully rendered pastoral landscape.A long fabric scroll, edged with gold thread and lace, crosses the scene and bears the inscription: “Of all virtues, your heart is the temple; To impart love, you lead by example.” ”The work combines polychrome embroidery, gold and silver metallic threads, raised elements, and lace, giving the whole a particularly precious and decorative appearance. The piece stands out above all for its exceptional state of preservation and its remarkably vivid colors. The silks have retained an astonishing vibrancy, the embroidery is exceptionally well-preserved, and the details of the workmanship remain clearly visible. This vibrancy—exceptional for a 19th-century religious textile—allows one to fully appreciate the finesse and richness of its decoration.The work is presented in a large antique gilded wooden frame, richly carved with floral and rocaille motifs, which fully contributes to its monumental character.
