Armand Guéry (1853–1912) was born in Reims, where he first trained with local artists, notably Auguste Rigon (1850–1884), who taught him the art of naturalistic landscape painting, encouraging him to paint directly from life.
He rounded out his training with stays in Brittany and Paris in the 1880s.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français beginning in 1882. In 1892, Guéry purchased a property in Pontgivart (Marne), the Villa des Fleurs, from which he set out to paint the Champagne plain, its woodlands, and the surrounding rivers (the Suippe, the Aisne, Berticourt, and Orainville).
The museums in Château-Thierry, Nice, and Reims hold works by him.
