Coconut Powder Flask With Silver Coat Of Arms - Early 19th Century

Royalist powder flask made from a carved coconut with a silver mount – France, 19th century

A very beautiful and rare powder flask made from a finely carved coconut, adorned with a substantial silver mount of remarkable craftsmanship.

The main face is adorned with a spectacular silver military trophy, centered on the coat of arms of France featuring three fleurs-de-lis, surmounted by the royal crown and surrounded by flags, laurel branches, and intertwined military regalia. This rich iconography clearly reflects a royalist and Bourbon inspiration.

The coconut also features remarkable relief carving. The upper part is decorated with a mascaron depicting a human face, while the base is entirely carved with an elegant, radiating design of foliage and plant motifs.

The neck and its stopper are complemented by finely crafted light-colored elements, with the stopper held in place by a small chain. The metal mount extends along the sides and features suspension rings.
