Antique Sicilian Louis XIV Chest Of Drawers, 18th Century
Antique Sicilian Louis XIV chest of drawers in walnut burl with rosewood inlays, dating from the mid-18th century.
The surface, made entirely of walnut burl, showcases the arrangement of the grain and the contrast of light and dark tones in the various inlays.
The decoration is typical of 18th-century Sicilian style, featuring the classic contrasting inlay panels and gilded bronze handles and vents.
The two corner panels and the top are highlighted by elegant wood borders arranged “end-to-end.”
The two-drawer front is accentuated by a beautiful curving motif that is repeated on the sides as well.
The two cabriolet legs end in a block-style foot and are connected by a mixed-line apron.
