Pair Of Art Deco Val Saint Lambert Vases, Luxval, "criquet" Model By Charles Graffart, 1934
Pair of "Criquet" vases – Val Saint Lambert, Luxval – Charles Graffart – Art Deco, 1934
A magnificent pair of “Criquet” vases, designed by Charles Graffart for the Val Saint Lambert Crystal Works as part of the famous Luxval collection launched in 1934. An iconic model of Belgian Art Deco, at once chic, elegant, and timeless.
These pressed-glass vases are distinguished by the purity of their geometric lines, a true hallmark of the Art Deco style. Handcrafted using traditional methods: the two vases show a slight difference in height (17 cm and 17.5 cm), which is entirely normal and original, as the height can vary depending on the hand-polishing of the base, done piece by piece. This characteristic is proof of the manufacturer’s traditional craftsmanship and confirms the pair’s authenticity.
A refined set that will add a touch of Art Deco elegance to any interior, whether period or contemporary.

Charles Graffart (1893–1967)
Master engraver and designer Charles Graffart joined the Val Saint Lambert Crystal Works, where he became one of the leading figures in the artistic revival of the factory during the interwar period. As early as 1925, he actively participated in the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, where Val Saint Lambert presented some sixty deeply cut pieces, fully in keeping with the spirit of the new Art Deco style. In the early 1930s, as the economic crisis took a heavy toll on the production of cut crystal—a more expensive process—Graffart collaborated with René Delvenne to launch the Luxval line (1934), a range of decorative pressed glass intended to make the Art Deco style more accessible to the general public. His work, which blended the tradition of cutting with modern forms, profoundly shaped Val Saint Lambert’s identity in the 20th century.
