"diane And Cupid" Porcelain Painting

A beautiful porcelain painting depicting Diana and Cupid, likely inspired by the eponymous work by the painter Pompeo Batoni (1708–1787), held at the MET in New York.
One can also see the influence of the painter François Boucher in the pearlescent tones of the flesh, the speckled treatment of the sky, and the mythological inspiration.
In its original gold-leaf frame, the gilding is slightly worn, revealing a very pretty dark red plate.
This plate has been in the same collection since its purchase in 1921 from the Galerie Prouté, 12 rue de Seine, and is cataloged under no. 22.
In the collection catalog that the former owners kindly allowed us to photograph, the plate is described as Sèvres porcelain from the late 18th century.
However, we have removed it from its frame, and there are no marks on the back.
We date it to the 19th century instead.
It is in perfect condition.
