Her journey took her to many other latitudes before the fenua became the favorite theme of her works. Born in 1928 in Paris, Henriette Robin is of Italian origin. The war, the German occupation and the exodus push Henriette's family to join Marseille in the free zone. Married, she moved to Jeumont in the north of France. The couple still lived very far from the coconut palms, exotic fruits and vahines that would inspire Henriette as soon as she arrived in Tahiti in 1963. At the time, it was the Flemish School that fascinated her. To learn her art, she crossed the Belgian border and worked in artists' studios near Mons. A trip to Brittany tempted her and especially Pont-Aven where she painted Breton landscapes in the footsteps of Paul Gauguin, Émile Bernard, Paul Sérusier, Charles Filiger, etc. The second part of his work will then be marked by Tahitian pictorial art. She made many exhibitions in Paris but also in Belgium and later of course in Tahiti. His name appears in the world of painting “la cote des Artistes” The State museums of France and Belgium acquire several of his works. In 1965, she won the first FRA Angelico prize with a painting on the nativity. Another of his paintings, "Child of Tahiti" will be acquired by the Museum of Mons. A portrait of a Tahitian woman by Henriette Robin chosen by the OPT, a philatelic agency, and published as a stamp in 1974 will represent Polynesian painting throughout the world. Henriette Robin died in 2009 in Tahiti.
